About the Coaches
Tanoshii Judo is run by three head coaches; Jack, Jonny and Daniel. We are all black belts, and either current or former British Judo team members.

Jack
JudoScotland’s 2019 Young Persons Coach of the Year
Jack moved to Edinburgh in 2012 to pursue a career as a full-time judo athlete. Having competed across Europe and the world, he retired from competitive judo in 2018 and has recently completed his masters degree in Chemical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University.

Daniel
Daniel is currently a full-time SportScotland Institute and British Judo team athlete, with aspirations of competing at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Daniel has graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Winning the National Team Judo Championships for Scotland
Jonny
Jonathan started judo at 5 years old. After graduating university in 2014, he trained full-time and was ranked among Britain’s best. Jonathan retired in 2017 and is now a high school physics teacher.

Isabelle -
Child Protection and Welfare Officer
Isabelle is originally from Québec, the francophone part of Canada, and moved to Scotland over 20 years ago. She completed in 2002 a Masters in Social Work, followed by Certificates in Child Protection and Practice Education. After working for several years in a Children and Families social work team, Isabelle moved in 2013 to the voluntary sector working with migrant and refugee families. She is also studying towards a Masters in Therapeutic work with infants and children.
